What is Spleen Qi?

Spleen Qi (pronounced chee) Deficiency is when the spleen meridian, not the actual organ, is unable to perform its digestive functions, hormonal functions, and energy functions. This presents itself in many different ways; excessive weight gain, inability to digest foods properly, bloating, gas, weakness, lethargy, swelling, and cravings to name a few. When we feel this way for longer than a day or two it is creating a new pattern in our cellular memory, and our body now believes this to be the new normal. The problem with this new normal, besides feeling sub-par every day, is that our body has now forgotten how to correct itself, and is plummeting in a downward spiral. This downward spiral will offset other meridians, and other problematic patterns will start to present themselves shortly.

Prevention is Better Than a Cure!

That is why early detection and prevention are key! We don’t brush our teeth because our teeth hurt. We brush to prevent cavities, gingivitis and other oral diseases. So why would you wait until your body is in tremendous pain to start getting Acupuncture treatments? Acupuncture works with your body to help tonify and re-balance your Spleen Qi. This is done by removing blockages in the meridians.

Why Are Meridians Important?

Picture your body like a beautiful city. That city has many different roads and highways, called “meridians”. These meridians sometimes get traffic jams, car accidents, and construction blocking the flow of traffic. When the cars (Blood, Qi, and Water) are not able to get to their correct destinations, your body parts do not run as smoothly as they are designed to. This creates symptoms. Symptoms are your body’s way of telling you something is wrong. Acupuncture digs down deep into the root of the problem and corrects it by freeing the blockages, while tonifying the existing deficiencies. It also heals any internal inflammation, scar tissue, or diseased cells.

How Can I Expect To Feel?

Over the course of several treatments (typical treatments are between 6-15), you will notice increased energy, better digestion, weight loss, emotional balance, more restful sleep, and a general sense of well-being and balance. After each Acupuncture treatment you should expect to feel steady improvements. Each treatment builds off the treatment before it. Typical treatments involve one-two Acupuncture sessions per week until your symptoms have dissipated and your body feels as though it is working to the best of its ability.
